Heavy rain, damaging winds could hit the Triangle on Monday. Here’s the forecast
Strong thunderstorms could hit the Triangle Monday afternoon and evening, bringing the potential for heavy rain and damaging winds, forecasters say.
Hail and lightning are also possible as a line of storms moves Raleigh News through central North Carolina from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., the National Weather Service said Monday morning.
In Durham, thunderstorm chances arise after 5 p.m., the weather service says. Raleigh could see storms until 9 p.m.
The storms could have the potential to produce “isolated damaging wind gusts, pockets of heavy rainfall, and small hail,” forecasters wrote Monday morning on Twitter.

Less than one-tenth of an inch of rain is expected to fall, with more expected during thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.
The risk for isolated storms is mainly north and east of Raleigh, forecasters said Monday afternoon.
The predictions come after UNC Health and Duke University Hospital in Durham said they put up tents outside their buildings for patients who may have COVID-19.
